MULTAN, Feb 12: A senior officer of the Pakistan Air Force was shot and injured in his ancestral village in Kabirwala tehsil of Khanewal district reportedly over a property dispute.

Wing Commander Inamul Haq Sahu was allegedly attacked by his relative Saqlain Sahu and his four accomplices on Sunday in Marri Sahu village, situated in the precinct of Kabirwala saddar police station.

The injured PAF officer was brought to the Combined Military Hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Khanewal’s acting district police officer DSP Shakeel Zafar told Dawn that the PAF officer had a dispute with his cousin Saqlain over the possession of a plot of agricultural land.

Mr Sahu had come to Marri Sahu village along with some police officials to get a wall erected around the disputed piece of land when he was allegedly attacked by Saqlain, Qasim, Karamat, Sharjeel and Adeel. The police have registered a case under sections 324 and 109 CrPC and 7-ATA after arresting three of the accused while raids were being conducted to arrest Sharjeel and Adeel.

The acting DPO said that a disciplinary action was also being taken against the police officials in whose presence the wing commander was attacked and injured.
