KARACHI, Jan 25: Power failures for several hours have become a routine feature for the areas around Sohrab Goth, where a flyover is being constructed. People complained that shifting of electric poles and underground cables for the construction of Sohrab Goth flyover caused daily power failures for several hours in the locality of Ancholi and its adjoining areas. They said that the officials of the KESC were approached but they did not reply satisfactorily.
Residents of Ancholi Society expressed their concerns over the frequent power failures and said that the holy month of Muharram was fast approaching and the regular disruption in power supply could provoke area people to create law and order situation.
They said that the KESC had to repair all its cables and wires before the fall of 1st Muharram so that the religious meetings and gatherings, which took place usually after sunset, could not be disturbed owing to power failures.
