KARACHI, Jan 20: The Balochistan government is considering providing incentives to investors from Sindh to expedite industrial development in Gwadar.

In reply to a question, sources close to the Sindh government told Dawn that at the Inter-Provincial Coordination meeting held here on Friday, matters of mutual interest were discussed and strategy to encourage entrepreneurs from Sindh was also discussed.

The IPC, which was attended by chief secretaries from Sindh and Balochistan Fazlur Rehman and KB Rind respectively, also discussed mechanism for regulation of water distribution in Pat Feeder and Kirthar canals.

In order to improve water supply in canals, they decided to strengthen coordination by holding quarterly meetings of the secretaries of irrigation and power, fortnightly meetings of the concerned chief engineers and superintending engineers of irrigation and power departments of both the provinces as and when required to redress the complaints, the sources added.

The meeting while deliberating on other issues of mutual interest decided to hold regular meetings of the IPC on areas of inter-provincial interests at Karachi and Quetta.

For further coordination and facilitating people, the meeting decided besides construction of Balochistan House at Karachi and Sindh House at Quetta, to build resthouses and recreational resort at Hinglaj to facilitate not only pilgrims visiting the shrines and also to afford opportunity to the Karachiites and people of both the provinces to interact.

Besides chief secretaries of both the provinces, others who attended the meetings were secretary inter-provincial coordination Aftab Ahmad Memon, secretary of works and services Faisal Saud, secretary of irrigation and power Shuja Ahmad Junejo, secretary (GA) Abdul Quadir Mangi, secretary I & P Balochistan Abdul Salam Khan and secretary C & W Balochistan Qamar Baloch.
