KARACHI, Jan 31: Five ships including a rice loader and a tanker carrying 6,500 tons of palm oil are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday.
According to KPT sources berth occupancy at the BOPs dropped to 33 per cent from the previous 100 per cent as number of calling tankers fell, while at the dry wharves it rose to 65 per cent.
Six ships, MSC Eliana, Sinar Bangka, Global Prosperity, Al-Mirqab and Leixoes to unload and load containers and Datain to offload general cargo were berthed after the sailing of as many.
The departing ships were led by Lanka Mahapola, MSC Eliana, Mira, Blue Moon, Golden Gate and Shiin Toku, while Malakand, Leixoes and Al-Mirqab are expected to sail out on Friday.
Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 90,105 tons comprising 15,509 tons of export cargo and 74,596 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Friday: Athenian Valour and Johar, with crude oil, Jurang, with palm oil, Jamila, with containers, Khalid to offload sulphur and to load 4,200 tons of rice.
KARACHI, Jan 31: Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships carrying edible oil, chemicals, diesel oil were allotted berths at Multipurpose Terminal and Iron Ore and Coal Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday.
Meanwhile, three more ships carrying urea, furnace oil and containers also arrived at the outer anchorage during the same period.
Seven ships, Sun Crystal, Shinto Ku, Montepelmo, Ipex Empress, Al Maqwa and Bright City were engaged in loading/ offloading edible oil, chemicals, wheat, diesel oil and coal respectively.
Some 52,269 tons cargo comprising 47,286 tons import and 4,983 tons export cargo, in addition to 38 containers (Tues), was handled.
The cargo consisted of 4,983 tons wheat, 9,152 tons coal, 5,319 tons edible oil, 2,800 tons chemical and 21,564 tons diesel oil.
Following ships were at the outer anchorage: Francisca Schulte with containers, Jovanna with urea and Venture with furnace oil.
