KARACHI, Jan 5: Faisal Iqbal made a defiant unbeaten 80 as PIA-Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) four-day Patron’s Cricket Trophy Grade-I encounter ended in a draw at NBP Sports Complex ground on Thursday.

PIA recovered from 92 for six to end on 196 for seven when match was called off early with mutual consent of the captains with no chance of result.

PIA made 384 in their first innings and SNGPL replied with 376 in their lone outing.

Fiery left-arm paceman Samiullah Khan Niazi caused the trouble in formidable PIA line-up finishing with excellent figures of four wickets for 39 runs in 27 overs.

Sami ended with a match-haul of seven for 114.

Faisal, who hit eight fours in his 237 minutes vigil added 66 runs for the unbroken 8th wicket with Tahir Khan, whose 29 contained three boundaries.

PIA topped Group “A” with 18 points and advanced to play in quadrangular stage of the event.
