KARACHI: Youth commits suicide in Orangi

KARACHI, Jan 30: A young man committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his shop in Orangi on Wednesday.

Gul Zameen, 26, was a tailor and used to sleep in his shop after work in MPR Colony. The victim was single and had no family members, police said.

The cause of the suicide could not be ascertained immediately. The body was sent to the Abbasi Hospital for postmortem.

ACCIDENT: An unidentified elderly man in his 60s was crushed by a speeding minibus of route W-24 in Rasheedabad, Baldia.

The driver of the minibus fled after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind.

DIES: A labourer died in a godown when rice bags fell on him in Chakiwara.

Police said Haroon, 50, died when a number of rice bags fell on him while he was working in a godown.

INJURED: A young man was shot at during a motorcycle snatching bid in Garden on Wednesday.

Qutubuddin, 30, was going on his motorcycle (LHG-37706) when he was intercepted by two youths on Ghulam Husain Qasim Road.

CARJACKINGS: At least ten vehicles — two cars and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city.

The cars were hijacked in Jamshed Quarters and their numbers were: PL-8055 and ADU-144.

The motorcycles were stolen in Garden, Tipu Sultan, Khuwaja Ajmer Nagri, Jauharabad, Preedy, City Court and Ferozabad police limits.
