MUMBAI, Dec 31: Former President of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), L. K. Advani on Saturday stuck to his remarks on Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah made during his visit to Pakistan, saying if what he had said was “followed in letter and spirit,” it would help normalize India’s relations with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Denying that he resigned as BJP president under pressure from RSS in the wake of the Jinnah controversy, he told reporters here at a press conference, “I am disappointed with myself for not being able to properly convey my sentiments.”

“My remarks have been read out of context,” he said adding, “If what I said was followed in letter and spirit, it would help normalize relations with Pakistan and Bangladesh.”—PPI
