KARACHI, Dec 23: Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) CEO Frank Scherschmidt has initiated cleaning of city distribution network to avoid sudden tripping of power supply feeders, especially during the rains, a KESC spokesman said here Friday.
Taking notice of sudden power failures due to tripping early Tuesday morning during first winter rains, KESC CEO immediately mobilised engineers and workforce and directed them to clean all distribution network poles.
For the purpose, he also laid down the procedure that two workers would be deployed for cleaning one pole and at a time three poles would be cleaned so it could be cleaned within two to three hours and power shut down should be localised with prior information to consumer.
To give KESC engineers and workers motivational boost, Mr Scherschmidt personally guided and supervised the work at the first pole at Abdullah Haroon Road opposite KESC head office.
He told engineers that he had brought photographs of KESC pole from Germany. “It is right in front of KESC head office, centre of the city’s business and commercial hub, we began cleaning from here”, he added.—PPI
