LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Punjab University to issue roll number slips to dozens of students of LLB (Part-I) for the annual examination 2022 being held on Sept 9.

Justice Faisal Zaman Khan passed the order on a joint petition of Irsa Ghazal and 39 other students of a private law college of Gujranwala.

Advocate Safdar Shaheen Pirzada argued on behalf of the students that the petitioners had not been issued roll number slips on account of the fact that permission from the registrar of the PU was required.

PU legal adviser Malik Awais Khalid appeared on the court’s call and submitted that the vice chancellor had ordered an inquiry against the officials involved in irregular registration of the petitioners and other students of the Times Law College, Gujranwala.

He said the roll number slips were not being issued till resolution of the dispute. He asked the court to refer the matter to the PU for the redressal of the petitioners’ grievance.

The judge referred the petition to the PU vice chancellor with a direction to decide the dispute within 30 days. As an interim relief, the judge directed the PU to issue roll number slips to the petitioners till the final outcome of the decision.
