LAHORE, Jan 28: Poet and writer Zahina Tahir died here on Monday of a protracted lung disease at the age of 57. She was the mother of DawnAssistant Editor Murtaza Razvi.
Zahina Tahir was the daughter of the late poet Syed Asghar Ali Nizami. She is survived by her husband T.H. Razvi, former senior official of PIA, son Ali Raza Razvi and Zahra Razvi. She was the sister of former Punjab director-general Syed Abid Ali, the later writer Majed Alisyed, Virgina Mohsin and Shaheena Mohsin. She was also the aunt of Jang Group of Newspapers Executive Director Syed Sarmad Ali and daily The News Chief Reporter Syed Mayed Ali.
Her burial will take place at the Defence Housing Authority graveyard, Lahore, at 10:30am on Tuesday (today). Her Soyem will be held on Wednesday (Jan 30) at D-292, Phase-I, Defence Housing Authority, Lahore, at 4pm.
Zahina Tahir’s prose and poetry collection titled Pat jhar key saey was published in 1990.
