ISLAMABAD, Jan 28: The Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan (CRCP) on Monday held both the capital development authority (CDA) and water and sanitation agency (Wasa) responsible for water shortage in Islamabad.

The water shortage is not due to bad weather conditions and less rains, rather the result of inefficiency of the CDA and Wasa, a CRCP statement said here on Monday.

It also demanded of the CDA and Wasa not to pass on the results of their incompetency to the consumers rather improve the situation. It alleged that the irresponsible water consumption by the consumers was also aggravating the problem due to which the situation has worsened in urban slums and Kutcha Abadis.

The CRCP, which has launched a campaign for the safe drinking water, also deplored arbitrary and discriminatory water-rationing patterns.— Staff Reporter
