PESHAWAR, Jan 28: Federally Administered Tribal Areas Reforms Committee has proposed to exempt tribal areas from graduation condition made compulsory for those intending to contest general elections.
The FRC, which met here the other day, also recommended that two seats be allocated for tribal women in the lower house of the parliament, said a press release issued here on Monday.
The committee members pointed out that the literacy rate was very low in tribal areas, therefore, the limit of education qualification should be lowered to Matric for the Fata candidates.
The FRC convener, Dr Mumtaz Bangash, informed the committee members about the meeting, held in Islamabad on Jan 23, chaired by president Gen Pervez Musharraf.
The meeting hailed the government decision of extending devolution plan to tribal areas, giving representation to Fata in the NWFP Assembly.
