LAHORE, Dec 12: Officials of the Jamaat-i-Islami and the PML-N met here on Monday to discuss fielding of joint candidates in the forthcoming bypolls. Both teams were of the opinion that all opposition parties should join hands in the polls for giving a tough time to the government’s nominees.
The talks were held at the PML-N provincial secretariat where Zaeem Qadri represented the League while the Jamaat was represented by Azhar Iqbal Ahsan. However, nothing concrete was decided as both sides agreed to meet again soon.
Meanwhile, Jamaat leaders have criticized the provincial and district governments for no check on fireworks sale and manufacturing. Qazi Husain Ahmad, Liaquat Baloch, Hafiz Salman Butt and Amirul Azeem said the bus tragedy was the result of sheer negligence on the part of law enforcers.
They condoled with the grieved families, demanded a ban on fireworks and penalty on those violating the law.
