LAHORE, Dec 12: A seven-member delegation from the Indian bus service returned home after a two-day stay here on Monday. Led by Indian Punjab transport secretary A.R. Talwar, the delegation had come to Lahore on board the Amritsar-Lahore bus.
The visitors did not hold any formal meeting with their hosts, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), and rather spent their time in sightseeing. The Pakistani delegation will pay a reciprocal visit on board a PTDC bus on Tuesday (today) and return home on Wednesday (tomorrow).
The bus service, sources say, is scheduled to begin its regular operation from Lahore on Dec 23 and from Amritsar on Dec 27. The Indian bus will reach Pakistan every Tuesday and return on Wednesday, while the Pakistani bus will travel to Amritsar every Friday and return on Saturday. A PTDC official says the bus service frequency will be increased to match passengers’ demand.
This will be the third bus service between India and Pakistan following the Lahore-Delhi and Muzaffarabad-Srinagar bus services.
