ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan appointed acclaimed actor Fawad Khan as its ‘National Goodwill Ambassador’ at a ceremony in Islamabad on Wednesday.
UNDP’s goodwill ambassadors are inspirational individuals who serve as spokespersons to uphold the UN Charter and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNDP Pakistan resident representative Knut Ostby, other officials and UNDP’s young beneficiaries working as green social entrepreneurs were part of the ceremony.
Fawad Khan signed the formal document with Ostby, and this was followed by the screening of a climate action advocacy film titled ‘Don’t Choose Extinction’.
The film advocates for phasing out fossil fuels for a more sustainable and equitable future.
