SIALKOT, Nov 20: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has taken a serious notice of the closure of more than six government girls primary schools in Bajwat’s far-off villages owing to non-availability of teaching staff and the precarious condition of buildings.

According to official sources, the chief minister has sought a detailed report from Sialkot DCO Shafqat Ranjha within three days in this regard.

Reports said the institutions were facing dearth of teachers and had rundown buildings which were further damaged by the Oct 8 quake. As a result of which the district education department closed down these schools.

The closed schools had been established during the tenure of Muhammad Khan Junejo in 1980’s, but since then the buildings remained victims of neglect.
