GUJRANWALA, Nov 20: As many as four ruling PML district office-bearers were sacked, while their basic memberships suspended for one month, for violating party discipline and policy by PML secretary general and provincial communication minister Chaudhry Zaheerud Din on Sunday.

Reports said the decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the ruling party held in Lahore. The meeting was reportedly informed of the alleged ‘negative activities’ of these office-bearers in connection with the PML nominee’s election campaign in PP-97.

Those who were sacked, just a day before the polling to be held on Monday (today) are PML district vice-president Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad Gill, information secretary Atiq Yousaf Zia, joint secretary Advocate Imran Younas Khokhar and youth wing president Shiekh Shahid Riaz.

The meeting also issued show-cause notices to the sacked office-bearers, and the party secretary general also informed PML’s all district heads about their dismissal.

He said those trying to defame the party would not be tolerated in its ranks.

Case: Three policemen, including an ASI of Sodara town police station, were booked on Sunday for trespassing the house of a widow, manhandling and threatening her with dire consequences.

Widow Nasreen Bibi moved court and pleaded that she was present in her house along with her young daughter when policemen led by ASI Asif Khan came there. She alleged that the intruders started manhandling her when she told them that her son Shoaib had gone for his work in a factory.

She further alleged that the policemen had also stripped her off and harassed and threatened her. Before leaving the house, they ransacked the furniture and windowpanes during their ‘search operation’ and also took away valuables.

Later, the police took her son into custody and released him after taking a heavy bribe.

The judge ordered DPO Dr Arif Mushtaq to get a case registered against the ASI and two constables.

Sodara police have registered a case against ASI Asif Khan and constables Muhammad Jamil and Khawer.

SHOT DEAD: Two alleged criminals were shot dead by their rivals at Qila Deedar Singh’s main market on Sunday.

Police said victims Ghulam Rasool and Mahmood were wanted in several cases.
