Switzerland investors keen on Balochistan

QUETTA, Nov 16: The Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan, Dennis Filed Mayor, has said that Swiss businessmen are keen to invest in various sectors of Pakistan and particularly in Balochistan.

During a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf on Wednesday, the Swiss envoy expressed great interest in investment opportunities in the country. They also discussed foreign investment issues in the province and reviewed the possibility of making investment in various sectors.

“Swiss investors are interested in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and cement sectors,” the Swiss envoy said.

“A Swiss company wants to set up cement factories in Balochistan,” he added.

He said that the Swiss businessmen and investors were being motivated to undertake joint ventures with their local counterparts in different sectors of the province.

The chief minister informed the Swiss envoy that the government was making all possible efforts for creating an environment conducive to investment in the province and offering incentives to attract foreign investors.

He also informed him about completed and ongoing developmental projects including Gwadar port and said that trade, fisheries, minerals, and tourism sectors had great potential for foreign investment.

He said that foreign investors could make investment in the province taking the benefit of incentives announced by the government.

Earlier, the Swiss ambassador also called on Governor Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani and discussed with him various issues including curbing narcotics business.

The governor informed him that during last five years massive development work was done in Balochistan and many mega projects had been completed that restored the confidence of the investors on the government.
