GUJRAT, Nov 12: District and Sessions Judge Ali Hasan Rizvi quashed a petition filed by PPP politician Mian Fakhar Pagganwala for registration of a case against MNA Wajahat Husain and 34 other nominated men, Dawn learnt here on Saturday.

Fakhar Pagganwala, the son of former MNA Mushtaq Pagganwala, was injured in election violence at Islamnagar polling station on Aug 25. Civil lines police station had registered a case on the complaint of one Rizwan Aslam after the incident.

However, Fakhar Pagganwala filed a petition with the district and sessions judge alleging that Wajahat Husain wanted to murder him and for this purpose, he asked Hanif Haideri.

Fakhar alleged that Mr Haideri along with his accomplices and the police attacked him as a result of which he received injuries.

The judge observed in his decision that no second FIR of the same incident could be lodged and quashed the petition.

A Pagganwala family spokesman claimed that they would now move to the Lahore High Court. On the other hand, a PML spokesman said the Pagganwala family was involved in a false propaganda against Chaudhrys of Gujrat.
