HYDERABAD, Jan 24: A meeting presided over by Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman on Wednesday discussed several issues relating to education, health, and water supply.
The meeting decided to distribute books worth Rs5.477 million among poor students and pay stipend of Rs0.289 million to the poor girl primary students of the rural areas of the district.
It was also decided to spend Rs43.690 million on the purchase of furniture and other equipments for schools.
A school management committee consisting five members was constituted for each school of the district to utilise the school funds judiciously.
Approval was also given for the purchase of equipment for several hospitals of the district and for 11 schemes for rehabilitation of water supply and drainage involving Rs8.100 million.
The district Nazim instructed Wasa officials to implement and complete the drainage schemes of Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad without any further delay.
The meeting resolved to implement the re-deployment scheme in the Education department by Jan 31.
MEETING: The first preliminary meeting of the committee constituted by the Sindh government to identify and determine the market value of excess land available in the houses used by former commissioners/deputy commissioners and DIG/SSPs was held here on Thursday.
Presiding over the meeting, the senior member, Board of Revenue (BoR), Sindh, Manzoor Hussain Bhutto, asked the DCOs of several districts to complete the proforma sent to them to determine the details of land in excess available in these houses so that it could be detached and used for more government residential accommodations.
The meeting was informed that in seven districts— Ghotki, Shikarpur, Naushahro Feroze, Thatta, Badin and Mithi— no such land was available.
In Sanghar, the EDO, revenue would hold a meeting with member settlement, BoR, to work out the details of available land.
The DCOs of Nawabshah, Hyderabad and other districts were asked to send revised proforma by Sunday so that in the next meeting a report could be prepared for submission to relevant authorities.
The meeting was attended by Nazar Mohammad Baloch, additional secretary, Aftab Memon, member, settlement, BoR, and Tahir Khursheed, additional finance secretary, besides the DCOs of Hyderabad, Badin, Thatta, Dadu, Nawabshah, Naushahro Feroze, Larkana, Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas, Khairpur, Jacobabad, EDO, revenue, Sanghar, and concerned officials.
DEAN: Prof Dr Nazeer Hussain Leghari of the faculty of Agriculture Engineering has been appointed as the Dean of the faculty.
