SPI falls

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: For the week ended January 17, 2002, Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the lowest income group up to Rs3,000 registered a decrease of 0.04 per cent over previous week SPI with a rise of 3.15 per cent over last year.

According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, average prices of 11 items i.e. potatoes, chicken farm, gram pulse, gur, eggs, Sugar, masoor pulse, onions, vegetable ghee (loose), bananas and red chillies (powdered) registered a decreased during the week under review.

While the average prices of 11 items i.e. garlic, tomatoes, kerosene, petrol, wheat, cooking oil, vegetable ghee (tin), wheat flour, moong pulse, firewood and mash pulse registered an increase.—APP
