KARACHI, Jan 23: At least 36 vehicles —12 cars and 24 motorcycles— were either hijacked or stolen in different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said.

Police said that nine cars were hijacked and three others were stolen from different districts including South, Central and East by bandits.

Of the 24 motorcycles, nine were hijacked and 15 others were stolen by the bandits from various parts of the city, police added.

ACCIDENT: A coach conductor died and five passengers were injured in a traffic accident in Qayoomabad on Wednesday.

Police said that a coach (PE-3290) enroute to Dockyard, avoiding collision with a vehicle from the opposite direction on the Qayoomabad bridge, bumped into a crater, overturned and slid down the bridge.

As a result the coach conductor, identified as Khalid Husain and aged 25, died instantly, while five passengers were injured. They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Afzal, Abdul Sattar, Mohabat Khan and Nasseruddin and Mohammad Juman.

In another traffic accident, in Khudada Colony, a young man died on Wednesday.

Police said that Joseph Idress, aged 26, was knocked down by an unknown vehicle on Shahra-i-Qaideen on Wednesday morning. Idress died on the spot. His body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem.

KILLED: A man was shot dead in a revenge killing incident at Pakhtoon Chowk in District West, late on Tuesday night.

Police said that Ayub Kabuli, aged 35, was shot in the head by Hanif Khan. Later, Hanif Khan came to the police station along with the murder weapon-a pistol- and confessed to having killed Ayub Kabuli who had sodomised him at gunpoint a year back.
