OKARA, Oct 24: Traders will provide 16 guards to police for manning them in busy shopping centres to check rising incidents of crime in the city. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Anjuman-i-Tajran, the Tajir Ittehad, the citizen-police liaison committee, City Circle DSP Syed Nazir Husain, A&B (City) SHOs at the Press Club here on Monday.

The traders said that guards would also be given cell phones so that they could seek police help in case of emergency.

Anjuman-i-Tajran president Shaikh Muhammad Saeed, Tajir Ittehad president Rana Shaji Ali Raza, CPLC chairman Mehboob Hasan Chishti and Aiwan-i-Tijarat president Mian Naveed represented the traders.

SNATCHED: Three unidentified motorcyclists snatched Rs150,000 from shop owners in C-Block here on Sunday night.

Abdul Sattar and Jabbar were present in their grocery shop when armed bandits came there and snatched cash from them.

A-Division police have registered a case and are investigating.
