KARACHI, Oct 24: Ten ships carrying trucks and to load cement are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources. A record cargo of 0.206m tons comprising 29,003 tons of export cargo including 1,924 tons of rice and 0.177m tons of import tonnage including 65,318 tons of liquid cargo was handled. It is billed as the largest single-day total in the history of the KPT, the previous record being 0.165m tons.

Berthing activity at the wharves was active where nine ships were berthed: They are Wester Muehlen, Selcon, Cape Boan Vista, to unload and load containers, Pacific Sun-2, Al-Hussani-2, and Darya Shakti, to unload and load general cargo, Johar to unload crude oil Hui Sheng and Far East Glory to offload DAP fertilizer.

Sailing was also active as 10 ships, Kota Waris, Eax Sanctity, Wan Hai-266, Sagamore, United Prosperity, Chang Le Men, Great Morning, African Star, Cape Bon Vista, departed, while Muhieddine-1, Wester Muehlen, Helene Selmer, Golden Falcon and Pacific Sun-2 are due to sail out on Tuesday.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Multan, with cement, and to load cement, Iran Baluchistan, Corin Thaikos, Ever Gather, APL Cairo, Sinar Bontang, Maersk Arizona, Kota Teraju, with containers, Nan King, with 146 trucks and Global Tianjin, with steel cargo.
