ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has hailed the relief and rehabilitation efforts initiated by the ministry of youth affairs and expressed the hope that other government, non-governmental organizations and individuals would follow the trend.

The premier expressed these views while inspecting a model tent city established at a relief camp on the premises of Pakistan Sports Board. Sixteen trucks loaded with relief items were sent to Muzaffarabad where the first tent city would be set up for the quake-affected people.

State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Ali Durrani told Mr Aziz that his ministry was sending all necessary household items to be used in a tent that would be allocated to one affected family.

In the first phase, he added, 350 families would be accommodated while one thousand families would be provided refuge on a daily basis till the completion of the rehabilitation process at Rawlakot, Bagh and other adjoining areas.

Online adds: State Minister for Defence Zahid Hamid and Secretary Lt-Gen (retired) Tariq Wasim Ghazi visited Chaklala air base and reviewed the relief and rescue arrangements for the earthquake victims.

They were briefed about the flow of air traffic and loading and unloading arrangements.

They directed the officials concerned to ensure the safety and smooth flow of aircraft and helicopters engaged in the relief and rescue operations.

A convoy of 16 trucks loaded with relief goods, including tents, camps, drugs and food items, was sent to Muzaffarabad on Wednesday for the affected people of earthquake.
