Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, Jan 21: Ship movements on the Karachi Port were maintained on the higher side on Monday thanks to steady arrivals and sailings of foreign flag vessels.

According to KPT sources berth occupancy both at the dry wharves and the Bulk Oil Piers was 59 per cent as seven ships sailed out, while three were berthed.

Meanwhile, six ships carrying palm oil, iron scrap and containers are due to arrive, while three others, Sun Trader, Byzantio and MOL Sincerity to unload lub oil, to load molasses and offload containers respectively were also due on Monday.

Three ships, Sagar, X-Dhaulagiri, Bunga Mastaiv to unload and load containers were berthed after the departure of Jamila, Hyundai Stride, Eres Trickerhar, Ibn Hawker, Blue Moon, Al-Maqwa and Andika Adhidaya.

Five others, Fuji Hoshi, Bing He, Sagar, X-Dhaualgiri and Themera are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Cargo handling at the wharves was relatively slow owing to lower handling of liquid tonnage, falling to 47,942 tons comsprising 18,300 tons of export cargo including 12,800 tons of molasses and 29.642 tons of import cargo.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Johar, with crude oil, Bunga Melawisdua, with palm oil, Kota Sabas, Kindia, Swat, with containers and Kyria Kos, with iron scrap.
