Aga Khan pledges $75m aid

TOKYO, Jan 20: The Aga Khan intends to support the reconstruction of Afghanistan by making available 75 million dollars, the Aga Khan’s French bureau said on Sunday.

The announcement was made in Tokyo, where an international donors’ conference for Afghanistan opens on Monday.

AKDN, the Aga Khan’s development agency, would use the cash to fund long-term projects as well as support schemes in agriculture, education, health and Afghan culture, the bureau said.—dpa
