MIRPURKHAS, Oct 5: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that work on conversion of the Mirpurkhas-Khokhropar railway track from the meter gauge to the broad gauge would be completed by December this year and added that he had been invited by Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh in Karachi to visit India through the Khokhropar-Munabao route.

He said that he would visit India along with local journalists in the first train through the said route.

He was responding to queries of journalists at a press conference here on Wednesday.

He said that the Indian visa office would be opened in Karachi and that the opposition was levelling baseless allegations against him of kidnapping opposition councillors.

He said that government-backed candidates were winning seats of district nazim in 22 districts in Sindh.

Regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-PPP understanding in Tando Allahyar district, he said that Dr Rahila Magsi was a government-backed candidate for the district nazim seat and for taluka nazim of Tando Allahyar, Khair Mohammad Khokhar, was the Khushhal Pakistan Panel candidate.

To a question, he said that there were no differences for the seat of taluka nazims, Jhuddo, Kunri and Samaro while candidates for the taluka nazim of Digri had been given free hand to contest elections.

Earlier, he held meetings with different delegations, including Sindh Assembly Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Sindh Minister for Health Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani, Mirpurkhas MQM zonal in charge Saleem Razzaq, Adviser Jadim Mangrio, Dost Mohammad Memon and Rajvir Singh.
