KHAIRPUR, Oct 5: The PPP-backed Awam Dost Panel candidate for district nazim, Nafisa Shah, has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner on Wednesday and alleged that PML-F-backed candidates for intimidating councillors and directing them to take away ballot papers from the polling station, so that they can show votes to the ruling party leaders.
She demanded of the Election Commission to check this technique of systematic rigging and take necessary measure to place ballot boxes in front of the presiding officers, ensure that back of each ballot paper is signed, stamped and shown to the presiding officer before inserting it into the box.
POLLING STATIONS: Eight polling stations have been set up with a total 24 polling booths for the third phase of local body elections to be held on October 6, in Khairpur district.
All polling stations have been set up in the high schools of the respective talukas namely Naz High School for Khairpur taluka, Murad High School for Gambat taluka, Pir-jo-Goth High School for Kingri taluka, Faiz High School for Kotdiji taluka, Chondiko High School for Nara taluka, Pukka Chang High School for Faiz Ganj taluka and the Sobhodero High School for Sobhodero taluka.
PRICE MONITORING: A meeting of the district price control committee, presided over by DCO Qazi Shahid Parvez, was held here on Tuesday to implement the Ehteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance and monitor prices of essential items.
The executive district officer, the district officer and the deputy district officer (revenue) were directed to frequently visit “Bachat Bazaar” and monitor price of consumer goods. It was decided that Sunday, Tuesday and Friday bazaars would also be held while shopkeepers were directed to display price lists prominently.
It was decided that the district price stabilization committee shall be constituted and price of all essential items like food, fruit, vegetable, chicken and meat shall be regulated and complaint centres would be opened.
It was further decided that the DPO shall prepare contingency plan and security arrangements for maintaining law and order situation during the holy month of Ramazan. Police shall be deployed at congregational places, particularly at the time of “Taraveeh” and Bachat bazaar.
The executive engineers of Hesco, Khairpur and Ranipur, were directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply and avoid loadshedding during the time of Sehri, Iftar and Taraveeh.
