KARACHI, Jan 19: The district and sessions judge, Central, issued on Saturday non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a sub-inspector of police for his failure to appear in the court.

The court also ordered the police authorities to arrest SI Raja Mohammed Arif, required by the court to record his evidence in a murder case against accused Saleem Iqbal, and produce him in the court on Jan 29.

The accused had allegedly killed his wife, Kehkashan, in 1998 in the limits of New Karachi police.

The judge also ordered the police authorities to deduct Rs5,000 from the SI’s salary.

The same court also issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of ASI Shaukat Zaman, who has not been appearing in court to record his statement in a case pertaining to the possession of an unlicensed weapon.

The court also ordered the deduction of Rs5,000 from the ASI’s salary.

The district and sessions judge, West, Qaiser Iqbal, issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a customs officer in a murder case.

Accused Raja Yousuf is wanted in the murder case of Salim Farooqui, a senior customs officer.

Another customs officer, Raja Farhat, and his servant Abu Bakar are already in custody.

Mr Farooqui was killed on April 28 last year in the limits of Jackson police.

The judge ordered police to arrest accused Raja Yousuf and produce him in the court on Feb 1.

COP SENT TO JAIL: A sub-inspector of police, booked in a murder case, was sent to jail by an additional district and sessions judge, South, Farooq Ali Channa.

Accused SI Ghulam Ismail was absconding in the murder case of Abdus Sattar Baloch. A DSP, Saadullah Bangash, is already in custody in the case.

Dur Bibi, elderly mother of the 34-year-old victim, had alleged that the police officials had killed her son in custody.

According to her, the official of CIA Centre, Saddar, sub-inspector Ghulam Ismail, in a drunken state, stormed into her house on Jan 30 last year around 10pm and picked up her son after manhandling the family, including women.

She alleged that the sub-inspector, who also resorted to firing in and outside her house, had arrested Abdus Sattar on the orders of DSP Saadullah Bangash.

Later, she alleged, her son died in the CIA Centre due to severe torture by the police officials.

The FIR against the police officials had been registered on the orders of the Sindh High Court.
