KARACHI, Jan 19: Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP), Syed Kamal Shah, on Saturday inaugurated the inoculation of police officers, children of police personnel and their families against hepatitis at the Police Hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said that to look after the welfare of the jawans who performed duties day and night was the foremost responsibility; however, they did not get due facilities because of the government’s limited resources.

He said the police department was working in cooperation with various organisations and philanthropists to protect the force from hepatitis and other dreadful diseases and to ensure that they remained healthy and alert all the time to serve the people.

He said the department was arranging funds, equipments, surgical instruments, staff and doctors to meet its requirements and make its hospital a model.

Speaking on the occasion, Nazim Saddar Town, Farooq Faria, assured all possible assistance from his Town for the welfare of the police personnel and their families.

“These people risk their lives to provide protection to people, but we never think about their welfare,” he said and appreciated the efforts of the IG Sindh to provide facilities for treatment of the force members.

The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Sabir Shah, additional secretary health, Abdul Qadir Memon, town health officer, Nausheen Kehar, AIG general rasool Bux Saand, and Dr Farrukh Sher also spoke on the occasion.

The inoculation drive started with the cooperation of the Fatimid Foundation, Hussaini Blood Bank, Burhani Blood Bank, the Patients Aid Foundation and Jinnah Hospital.—APP
