JACOBABAD, Sept 20: A Hindu girl Sapna, who has been renamed as Mehak after her marriage with a Muslim boy, was produced in the court of civil judge Jacobabad on Tuesday. She along with her husband Shamsuddin Dasti arrived at the judicial magistrate court in a huge crowd.
On the occasion, strict security measures were taken by police.
Mehak recorded her statement before the judicial magistrate and said she had embraced Islam on her own will and got married with Shamsuddin.
She said she was neither kidnapped by any one nor she had taken any thing from her father’s house.
She said kidnapping case registered by her father Gyanchand was false and fabricated and requested the court to dispose of it.
She also recorded statement in the session’s court Jacobabad.
The district and sessions judge ordered to dispose of the kidnapping case of Sapna and released the arrested PTCL employees.
Our Sukkur correspondent adds: Sapna after leaving her home with Shamsuddin alias Shaman went to Dargah Amrot Sharif and embraced Islam at the hands of Maulana Azizullah Shah Amroti.
She was renamed Mehak (fragrance) and was solemnized Nikkah with Shaman.
She also issued her statement for electronic and print media.
The Hindu Panchayat held protest demonstrations in several towns of Sindh and Balochistan and observed shutter-down strikes.
The community alleged that Sapna was kidnapped by the armed men who had also looted valuables from her house.
Mehak and her husband ruled out the allegations and filed a petition in the Sindh High Court.
They surrendered themselves to the Jacobabad police which produced them in the court of civil judge Qaiser Khan.
They recorded their statement under section 164 in which Mehak stated that she was an adult and educated woman and left her home with her own free will.
When asked by the court, Mehak said she would like to go with her husband. On this the court handed her over to her brother-in-law Mohammad Alam Dasti after taking surety of Rs300,000.
The DCO brought the couple in the city police station after their statements in the court and asked the parents of Mehak to meet with their daughter but they refused to see her.
Police also released SDO telephone Ghulam Haider Gopang, Mevo Dasti and Saleem Dasti, who were arrested on the charges of kidnapping Sapna.
