LAHORE, Sept 12: Zeeshan Butt of Wapda claimed gold medal in 66kg class on Monday, raising total number of Wapda’s gold medals tally to three in the first national ranking judo championships being held on league basis.

Zeeshan fought aggressively from the very first bout and won most of the ties through IPPON points.

In the first round, Zeeshan defeated Muhammad Ali.

In the second round, Zeeshan beat Army’s Munawar while in the third round he overpowered another soldier Bashir Dad.

Ayatullah was the next man ousted by Zeeshan and in the last he defeated Karamat. Bashir Dad earned silver medal while Karamat grabbed bronze.

On Tuesday, the competition will be held in the 73kg class.
