LAHORE, Sept 12: Ruling PML secretary-general Chaudhry Zaheeruddin says minister for sports Naeemullah Shahani, who resigned on Monday, had violated the party discipline many a time in the past for which he had been issued warnings.
Shahani, he said, also had a “loose political attitude,” intolerable for the ruling party.
Mr Zaheer, who is also a minister, said Shahani wanted his father nominated as PML candidate for Bhakkar district nazim. But, the chief minister took a better decision in the interest of the party. After that, he said, Shahani’s attitude degenerated to that of a ‘blackmailer’.
The PML leader said when Shahani violated the party discipline in the past, he was formally told to behave. In turn, Shahani apologised for his conduct, and the leadership took no action against him. However, he said, Shahani’s subsequent attitude showed that he had little commitment with the party.
