KARACHI: DIG asked to probe murder case

KARACHI, Sept 12: A division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Azizullah M Memon, on Monday directed the DIG, Operations, Thatta to get murder of Qasim Samoon investigated through an honest police officer.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Ghulam Mustafa, nephew of the deceased who alleged that her uncle was killed during run of local bodies elections by rivals and he has nominated the alleged killers but police roped in some other innocent persons.

When the matter was taken up, Additional Advocate General Sindh appearing for the state said that respondents were ready to hold independent investigations into the allegations.

The counsel for petitioner expressed satisfaction over the assurance at which the bench disposed of the petition with the direction to DIG Operations to get the case investigated in view of the petition.

The same bench dismissed as withdrawn a petition challenging illegal arrest of Abdul Hakim after counsel for petitioner informed the bench that detenue has been released and has reached home.

Hasan Ara, aunt of detainee, moved the court maintaining that Hakim was taken away by police which was searching for her husband.—APP
