PESHAWAR, Sept 10: Principal Secretary to the NWFP Governor Brig (retd) Asad Munir has resigned citing personal reasons for his resignation. In his resignation letter, Mr Asad said he was unable to continue his job because of domestic reasons and personal engagements.

Brig Munir, who once commanded the Military Intelligence and Inter Services Intelligence in Peshawar, when approached for comments said he was too busy with guests and would speak about it later.

There was no official word on Mr Munir’s resignation.

Governor Khalilur Rehman told Dawn that his principal secretary had been under pressure from his family for a long time to leave the job. “For a long time, he wanted to go. His family lives in Islamabad and he was staying here to look after his office,” he said.

The governor refused to confirm or deny his resignation. “There is nothing official so far,” he added.

Before taking up his assignment as principal secretary to the governor, Mr Munir was on a contract with the Capital Development Authority.
