LONDON, Sept 8: European stock exchanges closed generally weaker on Thursday, after gaining ground for three straight days, following a sluggish start on Wall Street and traders’ reaction to disappointing earnings news. The London FTSE 100 index fell 0.47 per cent to close at 5,340.8 while in Paris the CAC 40 shed 0.45 per cent to finish at 4,465.94.—AFP
