KARACHI, Sept 7: Promising Karachi player Shahid Hussain grabbed double crown on the final day of the Seniors national ranking tournament on Tuesday night at Karachi Club.
Shahid first defeated Zahid Hussain in the final to clinch the 45 plus singles trophy and later along with his brother claimed 45 plus doubles event.
Shahid and former national champion Altaf Hussain wasted little time to outclass Hyder Ansari and Zulfiqar Yousuf Zai 6-1, 6-2 in the final of 45 doubles event.
Shahid-Altaf showed great understanding between them and played Almost flawless tennis to overwhelm their rivals from Hyderabad in straight sets.
Shabbir Gul clinched the 35 plus singles’ event trophy by thrashing his rival Syed Qutub Ahmed in straight sets.
Gul played an astonishing game to prevail over his rival 6-4, 6-3 in 45 minutes. His powerful serves helped give him victory in the final.
