LARKANA, Aug 31: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim rejected opposition’s allegations of rigging in the local body elections and termed them baseless. He was addressing a government-sponsored convention of newly elected nazims, naib nazims and councillors at the inspection bungalow in Kandhkot on Tuesday.

He said people had rejected the government’s opponent parties in the polls who had always misguided them, and said, the opposition would be dealt strictly if they try to take law and order in their hands.

Mr Rahim criticized the People’s Party Parliamentarian for losing the polls from their home union councils. He said that the government believed in democracy and were working to strengthen the democratic system in the country.

He said the newly elected nazims, naib nazims and councillors would work under the supervision of provincial government and there would be close coordination between them. He said the district or taluka nazims would be punished, if found violating the law.
