ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: The Central Board of Revenue has extended the date for filing of annual statement of withholding tax up to September 15, 2005. An official announcement on Wednesday said that the decision was taken keeping in view the hardship faced by withholding agents and receiving various representations regarding the filing of annual statements on the new format, notified through SRO641 of 2005 issued on June 27, 2005.
All regional commissioners of income tax and director generals of large taxpayer units have been instructed that the annual statements for the period ending on June 30, 2005 may be accepted up to September 15, without taking any adverse action.
It was further directed that the submission of evidence of tax deducted and deposited (challans) along with the quarterly statement was required to be strictly enforced. However, the same might not be pressed to be submitted with the annual statements, added the announcement.
