LAHORE, Aug 28: As many as 16,708 candidates appeared in the entrance tests for admission to various undergraduate courses in the province’s 11 public and one private university here on Sunday.
The 80-minute test in Lahore was conducted in a peaceful manner at the University of Engineering and Technology, but many parents of the candidates, particularly girls, complained about poor arrangements. They complained that the mismanagement did not allow their daughters to pay full attention to the 400-mark paper carrying 100 questions.
The management of the UET, which organized the test at all the centres, said the arrangements were foolproof and no-one objected to the questions which was the biggest achievement.
Besides the UET (Lahore) where 8,570 candidates took the examination, some 42,03 students appeared in the test at the UET Taxila, 1,985 at the College of Engineering and Technology, Bahauddin Zakariya University; 510 at the University College of Engineering, Islamia University, Bahawalpur; 981 at the NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad; 24 in Quetta, 150 in Peshawar and 285 in Karachi.
Those selected for the Anjuman-i-Himayat-i-Islam Degree College, Garden Town; Garrison College for Boys, Lahore Cantt; and the Institute of Space and Technology, Islamabad; would be given admission to BSc computer science classes.
The other universities and colleges include UET Taxila; Punjab University’s Faculty of Engineering; University College of Engineering, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan; University College of Engineering, Islamia University, Bahawalpur; Institute of Space Science Technology, Islamabad; Rachna College of Engineering and Technology; University of Central Punjab; NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research, Faisalabad; Wah College of Engineering; Garrison College for Boys, Lahore Cantt; and the Himayat-i-Islam College.
The results of the tests would be announced on Thursday.
