KARACHI, Aug 24: Filthy water gushing out from a chocked storm-water drain has spread on either side of main University Road, near Chandni Chowk, causing hindrance in the smooth flow of traffic, besides creating unhygienic conditions in the vicinity.

Motorists passing through the road complained that although sewage had been coming out from a storm-water drain, running parallel to New Town police station, for the last couple of days, the authorities have neither cleared the chocked storm-water drain, nor removed the dirty water which is stagnant on the road since Monday.

Motorcyclists are the worst sufferers and the pedestrians have no choice but to wade through the dirty water.

WATER: Complaints of water shortage are being received from various parts of the city.

The worst affected localities include Gulshan-i-Iqbal’s blocks 13-D, Clifton’s Block 2, Mehmoodabad, Manzoor Colony, Ranchorr Line, Pakistan Chowk, Kharadar, Saudia Colony (Malir) and parts of Khokarapar.

Residents of the affected localities complained that although acute water shortage had been persisting for the last one week, the KWSB officials have taken no measures to restore normal supply.

Similarly complaints of water shortage have also been received Sector 11-B, North Karachi for the last one months.
