BADIN, Aug 23: Over 100 workers of the Army Welfare Sugar Mills took out a procession in protest against the sugar mill management for allegedly terminating services of 130 employees of the mill.

According to labour leaders Iqbal Baryar and Shakoor Nohrio, when the workers went on duty on Monday they were not allowed to enter the Army Welfare Sugar Mills and termination notices were put on the gate.

They said mills security personnel and police clashed with the workers and resorted to baton charge.

They said many of the workers were still detained in their rooms in the mill’s colony and were not allowed to go out.

They said the mill management was trying to occupy the rooms allotted to workers.

The workers marched, covering 3kms, on foot and were raising slogans against the mill management.

Later, they observed a sit-in on the Shah Latif Road for many hours.

They terminated protest and warned if the Army Welfare Sugar Mills management again repeated same action they would resist.
