KARACHI, Aug 22: Though associates of Arshad Pappu have been nominated in the murder case of Rafiq Magsi, senior police officials said the involvement of Pappu is yet to be established.

Rafiq Magsi, 30, was killed and his associate, Amin, 30, suffered injuries when they were attacked by unknown persons at a snooker club in Jehanabad.

An FIR 186/2005 was registered at Pak Colony police station, and five suspects belonging to the Arshad Pappu gang were nominated in the case.

Speaking on the request of anonymity, a police official said Sunday’s killing could also be the result of a conflict within the Magsi tribe. He said Arshad Pappu group could also be involved in the killing, but at the moment, they are on the run.

FIRE: A major fire broke out in a garment factory in F.B. Industrial Area Monday night.

According to the Chief Fire Officer, fire broke out in the storage area on the roof of the garment factory. As the storage area had no approach, it created problems for the firemen. Eighteen fire tenders were employed to control the fire. The cause of fire and the extent of damage could not be ascertained.

Initially, the firemen faced difficulty in getting water which hampered the fire-fighting operation. Assistance from the rangers was sought who supplied the water, said the chief fire officer.

BODY FOUND: The body of a bus conductor was found in Saeedabad on Monday morning.

Police said the body of Ghulam Husain, 22, was found in Sector 9-D. The body bore a bullet wound in the head.
