HYDERABAD, Jan 16: A woman and her son suffered serious injuries after some locally made explosive material went off in a garbage dump near the Palari railway station in Kotri town on late Tuesday night.
A police official said that Gul Bibi and her 6-years-old son, Barkat Leghari, were hit by the splinters of the explosive device.
They were taken to a hospital.
THREE ARRESTED: Sakhi Pir police on Tuesday arrested three members of a gang of robbers and motorcycle-lifters and recovered pistols from their possession near Shamdas park.
The were identified as Zafarul Islam, son of Noorul Islam, resident of Ilyasabad, Sikandar Ali, son of Ghulam Rasool, phase-II, Naseem Nagar, and Mansoor Hussain, son of Fazal Mohammad Syed, resident of the Barrage colony. Two other members fled from the scene.
They had looted cash and gold ornaments worth more than Rs3 lac. They also confessed to have snatched the motorbike of a press photographer.
resignations: The arrested leaders of the banned organization, Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan, are reported to have tendered their resignations from the party to the police officials, a police source said.
Around 6 leaders of the SSP were arrested by Phuleli police from different areas in the crackdown against the activists of militant and religious organizations on Jan 12 when President Gen Pervez Musharraf banned five religious organizations and jihadi outfits.
They included Qutubuddin Ansari, SSP ameer, Hyderabad district, Haroon Ahmed, Shabbir Ahmed advocate, Maulana Khuda Bux and two others.
A police official claimed that the leaders in their hand written statements submitted to SHO of the Sakhi Pir police station, dissociated themselves from their party.
