ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Hameedul Haq stayed firmly on track in his defence of the Asian Seniors Tennis Championship crown as he marched into the semifinals of the 40 and over category on Thursday in Pattaya, Thailand.
The second seeded Pakistani star’s victim was Japan’s Yubata Keishi whom he flogged 6-1, 6-2 without any difficulty.
In the semifinals on Friday, Hameed will play fourth seeded Puurodom of Thailand while the other semifinal will see home player Moolvichit take on India’s R. Nagraj. However Hameed went down to CJ Coloburn of the United States in the quarterfinals of the 35 & over category.
In a match that lasted two and half hours, Coloburn found Hameed a tough customer and had to fight hard to score a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory.
