MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 18: The Muslim Conference president Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has constituted a central parliamentary board to select names for award of party tickets to candidates of different parliamentary elections.
According to a handout issued here on Thursday, Raja Mohammad Yasin Khan (minister for small industries) has been named chairman of the parliamentary board while Sardar Gule Khandan from Neelum district, Ali Khan Chughtai from Muzaffarabad, Sardar Mohammad Irshad Khan from Poonch, Sardar Ghafoor Shaheen from Sudhnoti, Raja Mohammad Naseer Khan (minister for local government and rural development) from district Kotli, Chaudhry Masood Khalid (minister for health) from Mirpur, Mirza Zafar Hussain Jaral from Bhimber, Syed Bashiruddin Andrabi from refugees of the valley and Hafiz Hamid Raza (minister for religious affairs) from among the refugees of Jammu settled in Pakistan have been nominated its members.
Mr Andrabi would also serve as secretary of the board which, in the first stage, has been directed to invite applications from interested candidates for the next month’s by-election in a Muzaffarabad constituency.
The area had lost representation in the assembly following the death of senior minister Syed Mumtaz Ali Gillani on Aug 7.
The board will also decide candidates for the AJK Council elections, due in October, and for the next year’s general elections in AJK.
