KARACHI, Aug 16: Three ships carrying diesel oil and chemicals were anchored at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Tuesday. Berth occupancy stood at 67 per cent as six ships, Maersk Alaska, Sealand Mariner, Precious, Eburna, Energy Star and Washington Trader, were busy in loading and unloading containers, rice, edible oil, iron ore and seeds.
A cargo volume of 48,956 tons comprising 36,796 tons of import cargo and 12,160 tons of export tonnage was handled.
Sailing was active as Maersk Alaska and Energy Star left the port. Three ships, Warbah, Ginga Tiger and Aurora were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
Two ships, Contship Indigo and Asian Gyro, were due to arrive at the port, while Al-Isha’a was expected to reach on Wednesday.
