PESHAWAR, Jan 15: The interim-Afghan government appointed Abdul Qadir Fitrit on Tuesday as Afghanistan’s central bank governor.

Mr Fitrit, a graduate in economics from Islamic University Islamabad, had served in the same position during the tenure of Professor Burhanuddin Rabani.

The interim setup has also appointed Maulana Abdul Hadi Shinwari as new chiefjustice of the supreme court.

Sources told Dawn that Rahim Abdullah, incharge east and south security zone would head the commission of national army that would recruit some 250,000 troops for the army.   

The interim government, headed by Hamid Karzai, has already declared Kabul as demilitarised city and asked the armed groups to return to their respective areas.
