KARACHI, Aug 12: The Sindh Chief Secretary, Fazalur Rehman, has taken notice of the water shortage in certain parts of Karachi and directed the KWSB to take concrete measures for immediate provision of water to such areas.
He issued instructions in this regard after complaints were received from Hasrat Mohani Colony, Korangi, UC-9 Korangi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Gulistan-i-Jauhar and some parts of Shershah.
The chief secretary expressed concern over the non-supply of water to Korangi 51-B and B areas for the last one week and called for immediate steps for regular supply of water to these areas.
He said that if some technical problem was involved, the same should be immediately solved.
He said in the case of any unavoidable handicap in the way of regular supplies, the demand should be met through tankers.
Mr Fazal pointed out that water was a basic need and it was the responsibility of concerned organisation and authorities to take notice of its shortage and redress public grievances in this regard.
In case water supply was disrupted due to power failure, arrangements should then be made to supply water through generators, he directed. — APP
